Frequently Asked Questions

Georgia Tuition Tax Credit Program (HB1133)

In 2008, the Georgia Legislature passed a law which allows individuals and corporations to redirect a portion of their Georgia income tax to provide scholarships for private school students. AWA has partnered with GASSO a state approved Student Scholarship Organization (SSO). Anyone who pays Georgia taxes is eligible to participate in this program.

How does it work?

Each month that GASSO receives a donation for Academy of Innovation, your student will receive an equal share of the scholarship funds. For example, if we receive $10,000 in March for AOI and there are 10 approved students, then each approved student at AOI will receive a $1,000 scholarship at the end of March.

Student Eligibility

Once a student qualifies in any category for a scholarship, they stay qualified for their entire school career.

  • Students in Pre-K through 1st grade are automatically eligible.
  • Students above 1st grade must have attended public school for six weeks prior to enrolling in private school OR have been homeschooled for one year prior to enrolling in private school

Income Requirements

Scholarships have caps based on your net taxable income.

  • Under $100,000 equals a maximum of 100% of tuition
  • $100,000 – $250,000 equals a maximum of 90% of tuition
  • Above $250,000 equals a maximum of 80% of tuition

Scholarship Process

It’s pretty easy, and will last for the entire school year.

  • Complete GASSO’S student application online and attach your tax info.
  • Each month funds are available, a scholarship check will be sent to AOI.
  • Consider “GASSO” by becoming a donor, and get a tax credit.
